The CMWA event in Dryden was a huge success! A total of 54 longboard racers made the journey for the 3-day Can-Am Championships travelling up from the nearby States including Iowa and Indiana. Over 200 crowded the bleachers at the park beach, with announcers describing the sport, the course and naming the leading competitors. Some 3,000 spectators circulated through the fairgrounds on the weekend, many of them witnessing a windsurfing event for the first time. Local restaurants and the Kinsman Club provided fantastic meals. We were invited to a beach party with live music and fireworks all in celebration of Dryden’s 100th Birthday. Thank you Dryden and organizer extraordinaire Brad ‘Woody’ Woodworth. Results now available here.

Even though it is now officially winter and skimming over the water in warm summer breezes seems too far in the future to imagine, planning the 2010 CMWA Championships in Dryden is in full swing.
This is a reminder that the event will take place in Dryden on August 6 to 8, 2010. It is important to note that the dates are a departure from the normal timing of our event in that they do not include the Civic Holiday Monday which occurs on August 2nd. Make your travel plans early to avoid the region’s summer holidayers and those planning to be in Dryden for the Centennial festivities.
Check here regularly for updates on the event.
All the best in 2010 and I hope to see you in Dryden.
Those who travelled to Caraquet were not disappointed. The venue was perfect, the hospitality outstanding, the meals delicious and the wind was present. We even had some slalom races! Results are posted in the Results page. Thank you to all the organizers and sponsors. Congratulations to five Canadian juniors who travelled to Chatham, Mass for the East Coast Jr. Championship and did very well. See their results at www.windsurf.ca/results.
